- Abstract
The British colonies in New Zealand and Australia were established and grew during a period of rapid technological change in Great Britain. The paper examines the evolving structural theory and carpentry practices used in the design and erection of timber roof trusses in Britain, and their application in the colonies by tradesman and designers.
