- Abstract
Light railway technology was imported into Australasia during the first half of the last century. Light rail was widely adopted and used in primary and secondary industries, until about the middle of this century. Australasian engineers adapted, modified and totally rethought the basic technology in response to local physical, social and economic conditions. Many uniquely innovative design were developed. Some were successful some were not. A universal situation.
