This paper describes the contributions of Benjamin Wright toward economic growth and civil engineering in America. Encompassing the Erie Canal, the Delaware & Hudson Canal connecting New York with the coal fields of Eastern Pennsylvania, the first steam railroad in the U.S.A., the Saint Lawrence Ship Canal and the first railroad in Cuba.
