- Abstract
The size and complexity of many industrial and engineering artefacts makes their selection for indefinite retention a matter of particular difficulty. The paper discusses procedures by which works could be chosen and examines alternatives to conservation, such as comprehensive recording. It is suggested that interstate or international co-operation will be essential if any examples of some industrial processes are to be retains for the benefit of posterity.
