- Abstract
River flow data from 1886 to 1984 are summarized. Regulation since 1934 has reduced winter-spring and increased summer-autumn flows; some stands have deteriorated and died. With the completion of Lake Dartmouth, effects of regulation will be accentuated. A joint study and works programme has been undertaken by the River Murray Commission and a States Working Party to develop management strategies that will meet the needs for irrigation water without significant flooding in summer-autumn, and will provide for more regular watering of the forest in winter-spring, in an attempt to maintain the forest ecosystems in a healthy condition.
