    Details

During the European discovery and settlement of Australia, the explorers and naturalists came with their artists and botanical illustrators, who contributed significantly to the scientific identification and naming of the Australian eucalypts. In their botanically accurate portrayal of plants, the artists created important botanical records. Painters and later, photographers, provided a unique insight into Australian landscape and plants, and their artistic heritage is also a source of historical significance. Some of these artists and photographers were also explorers and collectors.
