Summary

William Shannon MInstCE, was a Commissioner of the Victorian Railways from 1919 to 1933, and had the responsibility for organising the electrification of the Melbourne suburban railways. Prior to that he was Chief Mechanical engineer, responsible for the development of the Newport Railway Workshops.
