Summary

Lawrence Drake was a seismologist and astronomer who also practised as a Jesuit priest for 43 years. From the 1970s through to the early 1990s, Drake held the position of director at St Ignatius College's Riverview Observatory, as well as lecturing in geophysics at Macquarie University. In 1992 he was made director of the San Calixto Observatory in Bolivia. He held this position until 2002 when he returned to Australia due to illness.
