Summary

Archibald Liversidge was Professor of Geology and Mineralogy, University of Sydney 1874-1891 and Professor of Chemistry 1891-1907. He served on the Committee of Management of the Technological, Industrial and Sanitary Museum, Sydney 1880-1889 and was a key figure in the establishment of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science in 1887. Having joined the Royal Society of New South Wales in 1872, Liversidge became heavily involved in its activities, being Secretary form 1874 to 1884, and editing its Journal and proceedings for many years. The Archibald Liversidge Medal has been awarded by the Royal Society of New South Wales since 1931, with the awardee presenting a lecture to the Society.
