Summary

The Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service was established in 1975 under the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act 1975. Initially the Service was controlled by the Department of Environment, Housing and Community Development. The Service was renamed the Australian Nature Conservation Agency in the early 1990s.
