The Australian Society for Parasitology Inc. was established in January 1964 for persons with an interest in the area of parasitology. From their Web site, December 2001: "The Australian Society for Parasitology Incorporated brings together all those in Australia and in many countries worldwide interested in parasitic diseases of humans and animals. The Society is active in all aspects of the science of parasitology and in education and lobbying for parasitological issues."
