Summary

Zircon Rutile Ltd was a processor of mineral sands from areas including Byron Bay. They used selective flotation to isolate zircon from a mixture of rutile, ilmenite, monazite, garnet and quartz. According to deListed the company was taken over by ZR Holdings Limited in 1957. Yet according to byron-bay.com "The company, Zircon Rutile Ltd returned in the 1960's to re-work the sand with more refined extraction techniques. The plant was in Jonson Street where the Plaza shopping centre now stands."
