Abstract

Ken McInnes will be talking about the life and achievements of William Thomas Doyne (1823-1877) a civil engineer who had a remarkable, diverse and demanding engineering career that spanned Ireland, England, Belgium, Wales , Crimea, India, Ceylon ( Sri Lanka), New Zealand and Australia.

Attendees will learn about Doyne's many achievements including how he contributed to the development and transfer of technologies across the globe, especially in the field of metal truss bridge design.
