Abstract

A survey of the technical literature before 1950 and an examination of the historical works on Industrial and Mechanical Engineering in Australia, particularly those written after 1975 indicated a need for better writings on the development of agricultural machinery, electric power, food processing, gas and oil engineering, manufacturing, marine and telecommunication engineering which will explain the essential nature of these activities in the development and defence of Australia is identified.
