Description

A collection of pen and ink sketches, including several of Dight's Mill on the Yarra River and views from a sketching trip to Gippsland; a brief extract from a diary kept by Russell and makes reference to Count Strzelecki, an explorer to Western Port in March 1860 (?); sketches of huts built near Port Albert in 1841 for survivors of the "Clonmel" disaster; overall dates 1830-73 [1 volume]. Typescript of 'Life and work of Robert Russell 1808-1900' preface and introduction, and research notes [31 pages, MS 11385]. Correspondence and extracts of correspondence 1833-67; notebooks 1830-60; documents 1875-78; biographical note by his daughter Helen Cunard 1930 [Box 11/1 and 2]. Copies of extracts of letter 1842-47 from originals at 299/1 [Box 658].
